This month I am introducing Alex to you, one of our English trainers in our select team delivering your English language & British Culture courses. Read Alex’s top tips for learning English & about British culture here:
1. What are your top tips for clients to improve their English?
Pronunciation is all important. Try practising the English phonemes (sounds). There are videos on You Tube which show you how the mouth moves. Pronunciation is physical!
2. What common challenges do you find people sometimes have with learning English, and what do you recommend?
People sometimes say they cannot understand English native speakers because they speak too quickly. This is less to do with speed and more to do with what words we stress. Don’t try to understand every word. Focus on the context and key words, such as verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs. Try listening to something from the radio or TV – then write down what you hear, word for word. It’s a good exercise.
3. What do you enjoy most when working with a client?
Getting to know them and learning about their job, culture and hobbies. If we can learn from each other, we can create a good learning environment.
4. Share with us an interesting insight into British Culture…
People love ordering takeaways in Britain – ordering food on the phone or the internet and then picking it up from the restaurant or having it delivered. Some of the most popular takeaways are fish & chips, Chinese or Indian food.
5. Where do you go for your perfect cuppa?
